So, I really love Mirror's Edge but I thought it was kinda far out. Surely that kind of stuff is impossible and an exaggerated version of Free Running aka Parkour. After watching this video I'm kind of blown away by the human body and strength. Sure, some of the stuff in Mirror's Edge is still way out there, but most of it seems possible. This video is just sick. I was prompted to look it up after a friend talked about parkour. I've always liked the idea and I used to be really active outside, pouncing on everything. But not anymore. T.T I think I'm going to start getting back into shape. This has inspired me. I'm going to go run up a wall now. |

Parkour is amazing stuff. I would like to be able to do it but I lack the motivation and physical energy required to actually get into shape enough for it. Maybe one day I'll get of my rear and get into it but for now I'm content to enjoy watching others do it. Also very much lol at the dude in the santa costume. |

A few things: 1. If Santa Clause didn't use parkour to get back to the roof after delivering the presents, there is no justice in the world. 2. I don't think SoS will ever actually start parkour with that attitude. 3. There are two reasons I can't do parkour: a. my weight: I am over 250 lbs and I have little to no upper body strength... that being said, if I lost some of my belly fat, I would have no problem making those long jumps look easy. b. my acrophobia: I can't stand being high up... I even get freaked out when I'm in an office building with glass windows because I feel if I get too close to them, they'll break and I'll fall to my death. so.... there's that... |

Being the jack-of-all-trades that I am. I have some experience with parkour oriented acrobatics. Though I'm nowhere near THAT good (Experienced at more than some, master of none, after all), it's still fun as hell putting your body through what most would call insanity. I actually had to parkour my way out of work about a month ago believe it or not. I wound up having to stay WAAAY late (Closes at 9. I was there 'till 11:30), so the mall was all but locked up in every way imaginable. Long story short, had to go all Mirror's Edge and ninja my down a parking structure that for some unholy reason had all the staircases locked behind bars. Fun times, I must say though. And some people think it's near impossible to get into, but the truth is, so long as you start small, just the sheer fun of it will keep you going. Nowadays I see buildings and other structures and think "Playground". Give it a try and I guarantee you'll impress yourself. |

I think many free runners aspire to do the less dangerous ground level parkour. Those were the talented, idiotic, awesome, ninja, daredevil free runners in the video. Have any advice on where to start, Ashura? I watched some precision jumping videos and jumping onto a rail looks pretty dangerous in of itself. Not that'd I actually one day decide to start parkour by attempting to land on a railing. That'd be stupid. They have some awesome form though. I'd love to be able to jump as far as some of the people I've seen in precision jumping. |

A lot of people from my university has picked up parkour and practice around the campus. I've tried it before and I have done a few small acrobatic things. I have pretty good balance, so that's a start. I want to be much fitter, so I might try it out this summer. |
