So, I am about to begin my final week of my first year of college, and I ask of you: Are you in the throes of school still? If so, what part are you in? How do you feel about the upcoming portion? Personally, I'm on my last week of classes. Tomorrow will be the last time I will see my profs in teaching mode. But, unfortunately, I still have to see them in test mode one more time. I have finals, and my nerves are shot. It doesn't help that I have been downing six hour powers like they're five hour energy drinks, and I've been drinking those like they were monster energy drinks... and I've been drinking those like they were Dr. Thunder... I fucking love Dr. Thunder. |

I've no idea how many more weeks of class I have. I do know that I have exams in a month, and a research paper to finish >_< My exams are pretty early this semester, but it seems I'll be done with them quite soon. June 1st until the 15th or 16th. Awesome. Although, I still have two classes yet to take and a bachelor's paper to write next year, I'll be mostly finishing my 3rd year at uni this year and I'll be starting (together with those subjects and that paper) my master's degree in sociology. |

Have Law exams May 9th, 13th, 19th and 20th. Just a few days from now. I don't think I'm ready at all for the exams on the 9th or 20th ... :(. I'm taking: Tort law - 9th Public International Law - 13th Property Law - 19th Family Law - 20th. International law is definitely the hardest, but I've been working my ass off for that one recently. Family law should be the easiest, but I haven't enjoyed the course that much this year. I'm still making notes for it. Property law which is said to be very hard, I'm doing well in. I could bomb the easiest course around (Family) and excel in one of the hardest ones (Property/International). Tort law is more memory. Thank God I never took Law of Trusts at the same time as Property this year... Edited by Setoshin, May 1 2011, 03:08 AM.

I'm glad I'm still in high school, college sounds like a bitch. XD I'm graduating May 22nd with finals shortly before May 20th. I intern for three hours of my day, so I shouldn't have too many finals and I'm usually not very worried about those. Biology II is the only final I have to really think about. After I graduate I will be getting a job as soon as they'll hire me and, eventually (a few years later?), go to college. The downfall is that right now I don't want to go do more schooling. So in a few years I know I REALLY won't want to go back to things like math and science. In the mean time I might try and find programming classes of some sort to specialize my learning and continue gaining skill in the field I want to be in. |

College is a breeze. At first. Cuz you have to take all the easy little bullshit prerequisites for all the hard classes you want to take to actually learn something. =[ |

read "7 programming languages and 7 weeks", apparently, it's a great resource for programming in several oft-used languages. |

I never understood the US college system. Probably down to the fact I haven't read much about it, but what exactly is this 'majoring' system? |

a major is your studies concentration. For example, I am wanting to get a job in computer programming, so I am majoring in computer science in order to attain certification in that field. It requires that I take several pre-selected courses (some are optional) to get the degree. A minor is similar to a major, but it is the next step down. Other studies are not really important, but must be taken anyways for some reasosn... I guess they are just a way to get more of our money... |

OH MAH GAWD only a few days left of high school! It's amazing. A miracle. Brilliant! Anywho, what Chrono said. I find our college system to be severely flawed. Any and all knowledge is great. But you pretty much have to pay to relearn the crap you took in high school. Even art majors, graphic designers, writers, etc... have to take various math and science classes. Sometimes it seems incredibly pointless. While college is targeted mainly at your "major" (primary interest and career field) it makes students do a lot of random crap that is unrelated. I have a friend who is crippled in math. Maybe she just doesn't put enough effort into it. But her mind has trouble with even the most basic of math. She is very creative though and was going to major in graphic arts. But she dropped out/flunked out because she couldn't pass her math courses. Sadness. |

Thank God our Universities are mostly based upon one subject. Sometimes they factor in other things. Like my friend is studying Portuguese and Brazilian Studies or something like that and she has to learn history from nations that were colonised by Portugal and she even has to read Portuguese literature. I suppose our A level system might be slightly like your Majors-Minors system. You study up to six subjects (pretty much everyone picks 3 or four - I did four) and most of the time they aren't too related. For example, if you wanted to get into Medicine in university, at college/sixth form you'd study chemistry, biology, possibly physics and something else. If you want to do Law, all they really ask for is that you study English or History at A Level. |

First exam tomorrow! Luckily I'll be done in 2 weeks, though. Can't wait for my 3,5 months of vacation :D Lots of plans and stuff I want to do. I'm actually thinking of getting me an affordable midi-keyboard and maybe drum pad and see if I can work out how reason 5 works and just fiddle with that a bit until I get the hang of it. Also planning on learning some chords on the piano. Could always come in handy. And lots of rehearsing this summer... hopefully a few small gigs with my dad's band (at least part of it) too. ALSO, lots of partying :p I'm going to Outlook Festival in Croatia in September! Ahhhh, can't wait! |
