Ga-Rei: Zero is an anime prequel to the manga series, Ga-Rei (The Enchained Spiritual Beast Ga-Rei). I couldn't really get into the manga so much, but the anime was brilliant. It is 12 episodes long as focuses on the sisterly-relationship between Kagura and Yomi. The first episode or so kind of throws you off but the anime makes a full circle and it all becomes very clear in the last few episodes. There's a nice balance of action/violence, humor, and some romance (but not much, really.) The storyline, in my opinion, works. It is simple, to be honest, but powerful. I find myself often thinking of the Ga-Rei: Zero plot and characters whenever my mind turns to anime. It was impacting, the ending especially. But the ending only had effect because of the way the anime was designed. I think it did well, but that is my opinion. The characters are actually fairly dynamic. They grow and change throughout the 12 episodes but they aren't finicky either. While there is humorous and fun moments, Ga-Rei: Zero is more of a serious drama (note: the drama does not revolve around romance or harems). All in all, this is my new favorite anime and I love it to death. I just wish the manga would be animated in the same style. :/ Ga-Rei: Zero streamed Watch it now, I command thee. |

I haven't watched animes in years as I don't think very highly of them now, so I have a question: As a person who doesn't like anime, will it actually entertain a non-otaku? Could you reasonably refer it to someone who doesn't watch anime? I'm not asking to be picky, I just need something to take my mind off from studying so much. I bought Zone of the Enders (PS2) and hang with my girlfriend all the time, but I think I need to get involved in something. |

Hmm... I think so. It's not your typical Naruto, Bleach, Inuyasha, etc... style anime. I tend to avoid those now, actually. It's got more depth, enough action and weaponry to keep it interesting, some humor, less fanservice than most anime but a little bit (episode 4~) and, it has a plot that is more than: "fight to be strongest!" "kill the evil demon lord!" "I'm in love with twenty different people, what do I do?" XD In this case, I think it is a matter of liking the plot line and characters or... not. Rather than whether it is anime or a live action series. Oh, and go play ZOE. Now. And ZOE: 2nd Runner. But don't forget Ga-Rei: Zero either. |

Ga-Rei:Zero was excellent actually. It was rather emotionally stimulating, which is more than can be said for many things I have watched. I really did enjoy how the anime was set up. The whole full circle thing worked out nicely; kept you waiting, wondering when the show was going to finally catch up and explain what you saw in the beginning. It has been quite a while since I saw it, so I forget many of the details. I can still remember the ending though. What an ending.... |

^ What he said ^ It's just an all around good anime. And I must agree with the following statement: "What an ending..." That, in a vague sort of way, says it all. |

Fine, I shall watch it every Saturday afternoon. Except tomorrow. Tomorrow is library time. Oh and ZOE is way too short. Great game, but ending is wack. |
