The freighter ship Eilmarsch is the same as any other deep space transporter. It had no particular assets that set it apart from any other ship of its class. Yet it would still become a part of human history. On April 27th 456IE (Interstellar Era) while carrying a shipload of soldiers and civilian colonists to the military outpost of Quirinus, the ship disappeared. One of those passengers was Dr. Julian Sylvestre, a particle physicist who believed she was on the verge of discovering faster than light travel. Unfortunately no one believed her and it was nearly the end of her career as a result. She could not prove her theory without a full size ship and no captain was willing to risk their ship. Destitute and nearly broke, both monetarily and in sanity, she stowed away on the Eilmarsch waiting for the perfect chance to test her theory. According to her initial calculations the ship should finish the trip in 1/100 of the time it would normally take. She was wrong. The ship went to far, to fast and was on a collision course with an unknown world. The ship was able to slow down enough from a lethal crash and some managed to survive the crash. Dr Sylvestre was not so fortunate and died in the crash. For the next 20 years these survivors fended for themselves on this miraculously oxygenated life supporting planet. They were found by a ship looking for a new planet to settle. Dr Sylvestre’s place in history was secured, albeit post humously, and a new era of space travel awaited humanity. But little thought is ever given to those whom survived those 20 years isolated on a dangerous world. This, is their story.

The planet in question is very much like Earth. Grass didn't evolve on the planet and though much of it is the equivalent of a forest it is primarily covered in sand. The forests have dense hard packed sand. The atmosphere is denser than that if Earth's, about 25% denser. The composition is largely similar and is safe for humans. The climate is warm by Earth standards. The area the ship crashed in receives frequent nightly bursts of light rain providing a steady source of fresh water. The life forms present do not have many easily associated Earth equivalents. Make up w/e u want in other words. The gravity is slightly less than that of Earth but nothing to noticeable.

The military ranks are as follows:

Cadet -> Private -> Corporal -> Captain -> Lieutenant -> Major -> Colonel -> Lt. Major -> Brigadier -> Lt. Brigadier -> General

Character Sheet:
Name:

Personality:
Occupation/Specialty:
Rank (if applicable):

Biography:

Name: Drew Baron
Age: 26
Appearance: At 6’ 9” Drew is tall even by the standards of the age. But his size is mainly drawn from the fact that he is a cyborg. None of his limbs are organic, all are machine. His eyes are black orbs as they too are robotic. His hair is always in flux, subject to a neural implant that controls hair growth and color.
Personality: He is a very quiet man and usually prefers keeping to himself. His expressions were unreadable as a human and with robotic eyes, it is downright impossible now. He is not quick to temper, but when provoked he shows why chimerics are feared.
Occupation/Specialty: Security Guard
Rank (if applicable):
Other Skills: Has a photographic memory and is a top class speed reader. He retains everything he reads and he reads a lot, thus he has a near encyclopedic knowledge of most subjects. He has few other noteworthy skills other than those granted by his cyborg nature. Superior strength, speed, stamina and the fact that his limbs do not get damaged easily. They give him extreme dexterity and agility as well. Unfortunately he cannot use these superhuman powers for very long. Doing so would put a dangerous strain on his power supply which is recharged using chemical energy from food and kinetic energy from motion. His eyes have three vision modes: normal, infrared, and motion sensitive (similar in process to how radar works but it works in a visual form)
Biography: Drew was born and raised on Earth. As were the rest of his family, except for that one crazy uncle who shot himself into space via a cannon but that’s besides the point. His only notable skill was his memory and intellect, though that was far surpassed by his memory. He clearly remembers every moment of his life vividly. There was no practical place to put his memory to good use so he followed in his fathers footsteps and became an electrician. One fateful day in his 21st year of life Drew was caught in an unfortunate electrical fire that cost him the use of his right arm. He promptly had it replaced by a robotic one. On Earth, people with a robotic limb are no strange sight but when Drew decided he would become more than just an average Cyborg and become one of the most feared people on Earth, a chimeric human. Many felt it unnatural to have most of your body replaced by machines but Drew didn’t care. He did not take very long to realize just how exiled he would be as a chimeric and sought out a place of safety. He found it through the life of a crewman in a lightbender ship. Knowing his intimidating anatomy would frighten most people into line he became a security guard, which in a ship is a powerful and feared position.

What were you doing by the watermelons?

Name: Ian Kaesey
Age: 32
Appearance: Usually unshaven with dark eyes and short cut brown hair and a trailing scar along his arm. Though not tall, he commands attention from those who he commands because of intimidation.
Personality: Quiet and subtle. Although he is not very witty or very smart overall, he is able to thoroughly think things through so that no mistakes are made when it comes time to execute the plan. People tend to trust Ian, but they are often put off by his lack of strong emotion.
Occupation/Specialty: Weather and Climate of Foreign Planets
Rank (if applicable): Captain
Other Skills: Low level medical training, instant memorization of verbal instruction
Biography: ian was brought up on a inter-plaentary transport ship that his father was running on behalf of a Oil company. Though the earth had outgrown the usefulness of oil, these companies still sold their product to less developed civilizations on other planets that had not gained enough technological experience to go beyond it. Ian was never permitted to go beyond the doors of the ship, so he spent the first eight years of his life within a confined world. When he was considered old enough, he was sent to an academy by his now wealthy father. Ian had been taught by his mother, but had the ability to memorize very easily, which allowed him to quickly reach the top of the class.
People ridiculed him for being so smart, so as the years went by, Ian slowly let his emotions dig themselves deeper within himself until they were almost gone.
He was accepted into medical school, but his lack of empathy made his instructors question whether he could be successful. He transferred into the military academy.

Drew's implants fired off shortly after the ships alarms did. It would take a while for his arms and legs to gain mobility after his three week, two day, 8 hour, 17 minute, and 56 second long sleep. He attempted to view a status report but random errors kept answering him. Great. Got up to a bunch of morons panicking over nothing. Wonder which genius set off the alarm this time. Drew rolled out if his sleeper bunk, the bunk groaning as his weight left it. He tried once again to get a handle on the situation and this time a message came through COLLISION WITH UNKNOWN PLANETARY BODY IMMINENT! COLLISION TIME UNKNOWN! EVACUATE TO THE NEAREST LIFE POD IMMEDIATELY! Someone really ****ed up Panicked people floated past him as they too emerged from their sleep. Drew walked along throwing people in the direction of the lifepods. There were definitely advantages to cyborg life even if the naturals refused to see it. The process continued for only a few moment s before Drew decided it was about time to get some food. He had been through more than enough "alarms" to know that most were issued with at least 12 hours advance warning. The panicked looks on the faces of the normals was always good for a laugh especially as he pushed them into the walls or roof or floor or whatever you decided to call it. He caught sight of a few other crew members floating by to their destinations. People started rising rapidly and smashed on the floor. guess that was the floor. The alarms suddenly grew in intensity and it took Drew another few steps to realize that gravity had returned. The ship began to shake as if some demonic beast was dragging it to the fires below. The ship began warming up and the shrieks of the people on board was almost matched by the cacophony of a ship rated for 0.25atm entered 5 times that. The heat was becoming unbearable and alarms for his cybernetics flared up in his vision. He was actually starting to lose his now precarious position on the roof. He swung himself forward and dug his hands into the metal of the roof to try and maintain some semblance of balance. The pressure was intense. He could almost see his arms burst from the strain. Jarring impact soon followed and the panel Drew clung to for life was torn right off flying off with him still in a death grip. His brain decided to turn off at that point.

Ian hadn't felt the impact, nor was he sure what had just happened. He remembered the heat and the noise...

Clutching his head, he opened his eyes. Nothing. Listening hard, he didn't hear anything either. Not the familiar whir of an engine, not a voice, not movement of any kind. Ian pushed his body of the ground, realising that a table had narrowly missed landing on his head.

Of course, I almost get killed by a table. He spoke aloud, hoping that if anyone was around they would hear him. It was also partly because he could, relishing in the narrow escape of death... probably.
I guess that we crashed. Interesting.
Stumbling over something (probably not a body), Ian made to to a door and opened it. Light filtered in, causing Ian to shut his eyes in pain fromt he sudden brightness. Turing, he slowly opened his eyes to urvey the room he had been caught in. Jacob lay sprawled against the wall, pinned by an armchair but otherwise he looked alright. Furniture lay everywhere. it seemed to be one of the few rooms for the soldiers to relax in when off-duty. Ian kicked a lamp, which rolled across the room making his way over to his lieutenant.
Jacob? It looks like the room's safety features activated. I'm not sure how the hell these things work, but I guess i'm glad they do. Soon the chair was pulled away and jacob was lifted into it.
Alright, you can stay here and wake up. I'll see what I can... something.
Ian ventured toward the lighted doorway, still not sure if the light he was seeing was man-made or natural.

OOC: I'll need more information about exactly where we are, otherwise I can't go any farther. :OOC

Damnit I forgot about that >_>

Hopefully that covers most of the details.

Drew did not know how long it took his brain to decide to restart what he did know was that every single atom of his body hurt. His eyes reinitialized and he was greeted to a site of destruction. He was surrounded by fire and the screams and moans of the dying. He tried to get up but saw that he was welded to a plate of metal. exerting his now precious reserves of energy he removed his hands. The bonds were weak fortunately but his power was getting lower with every second. He stumbled around for a while hoping to happen upon some sustenance. He tried as best he could to avoid the dead and dying littered around but it was unavoidable. When he saw a bifurcated woman trying to crawl around not even uttering a sound he knew he had to help. He crushed her skull. More mercy kills followed. Some were once people he might have almost counted as friends, if someone like him could be seen with human companionship. There were just too many people and he knew the name of every single person which made it all that much more personal. He noticed something clutched in the hand of a dead soldier, a chocolate bar. It wasn't much but it was enough for a few more hours of mobility. Slowly the screams of the dying faded and cries for help replaced them. He had to do soemthing to help but he still needed food of some kind. He got close to a somewhat undamaged part of the ship when he finally collapsed.

Lost in the dark scary part of my mind

Name: Leliana Patterson
Age:13
Appearance: Brown hair with red highlights that falls just above her shoulders. Grey eyes with flecks of green. Pale skin, 5'1", slender.
Personality: Arrogant, sarcastic, but surprisingly quiet. She rarely speaks unless there's something important going on, or she has something on her mind. Highly intelligent.
Occupation/Specialty: Military student
Rank (if applicable): Cadet
Other Skills: Photographic memory, strategy prodigy, jujitsu
Biography: Leliana was recruited into a special military training program when she was nine, after passing a specialized Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Intelligence Determination Test. With the permission of her parents, she was taken to an off-planet training facility when she learned to fight, lead, and strategize. She was on board this vessel because she was being transfered for advanced training before entering her as an officer in the fleet. She'd never fit in at the Acedemy, being completely focused on excelling, as well as the fact that she was by far the youngest cadet there. As a result, she became very withdrawn and haughty. She hides behind superiority and arrogance.

Leliana woke suddenly, trying to remember where the hell she was. Scenes of panicked people flashed by; her stumbling as someone shoved her in the direction of a lifepod. Hitting the release button and staring as the planet loomed closer and closer. Then nothing. Grimacing, she tugged loose her security straps and climbed from her lifepod, squinting against the harsh light. Her legs wobbled and gave out and she collapsed hard on tightly packed sand, groaning as pain blasted behind her head and through her right wrist. Damnit, she thought, clutching her wrist to her chest and trying to blink the spots from her vision. Where the hell am I?
From what she could see, there was sparse vegetation around her, with what looked like trees a litlle ways off. In the other direction, she could see plumes of black smoke. The ship? Had it crashed? Was that what happened?

Leliana forced herself to her feet, swaying sickeningly before getting her equalibrium. Cautiously testing the movement of her wrist, Leliana immediately stopped when sharp, dizzying pain blackened her vision.

I need a splint, she said aloud, cursing whatever god happened to be listening. She glanced again at the not so distant wreckage and with a sigh started towards the trees. First things first. She had to take care of hersef before she could think of helping others.

The sun was hot, hotter than usual.
Pft, what do iknow about usual? As Ian's eyes adjusted to the brightness, he could make out the buring refuse of the ship. In the distance he could hear noise, but whatever was there couldn't be good.

Parts of the ship break off of the main section, an extra safety function should the ship become overheated. These parts have own trajectory system, which allows it to safely land instead of being pulled down by the main thrusters.

Ian shook his head to clear his mind of all of that information. It's not like he really needed it anymore. The ship obviously wasn't going to fly anymore. Jacob was safe, so the next step was to gather up what they could from the ship before it burned. People, food... but communication equipment was most important. There was no telling what kind of people (if any) lived on this planet and it would be best to have some sort of way of communicating off-world.

Leaving the room behind, Ian jogged towards the main refuge of the ship, pulling on his jacket he picked up from the fallen coat hanger.
In a crisis situation, it is best to have visual symbol of authority, otherwise people may not listen to you and simply ignore orders to fend for themselves the voice echoed. However annyoing it was that he had the echo, at least in came in handy in moments like these.

Escape pods littred the ground, some already open with their passengers standing beside them, other's still sealed. These people obviously weren't injured. He would let Jacob deal with them when he woke up.

I need a splint.Though the voice didn't seem to be directed at anyone in particular, the young woman who said it clearly wasn't aware that he was jogging up just behind her. Perhaps it was the giant flaming wreckage that distracted her. Ian slowed down as he bit his tongue and grabbed at the edge of his coat to rip off a peice of cloth. The girl stumbled towards the trees.
Hold on a second! I can splint it for you! Conviently part of her pod had broken off in a peice just the right size for a wrist. Noticing she was military didn't really phase Ian. This was a crisis situation, and rank and power didn't matter between them right now/
You'll have to watch the edge of it because it's still sharp, but if you'll let me fix you up you can accompany me over to the ship to help. Alright?

OOC~ Character personality Edit: She has respect for ranked military officials.

Leliana blinked up at the man standing before her, taking in the strip of cloth and the broken piece of metal sheeting. He was wearing what seemed to be a Captain's uniform. Straightening up, she nodded and obediently held out her wrist to be splinted. She winced a little when the metal forced it completely straight, but otherwise stayed still. Rotating her head on her shoulders, she said quietly,
I'll help in any way I can sir

OOC~ I can't freaking think. Please run with it Reli. This prego thing is messing with my brain and motor functions....If you want me to withdraw, just say the word. Looking back, my character seems to be a lesser, female Ender with no originality....
