You may have heard by now that the production of the Prince of Persia film adaptation of the immensely popular video games has taken place. And fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately) it's almost complete. It's being produced by the great Jerry Bruckheimer who has produced the CSI series, Cold Case, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbour and a myriad of other action and drama films or television series. It's also been directed by the brilliant director Sam Raimi (Spider Man films, Drag me to Hell, Evil Dead series). Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain and Day After Tomorrow) and Gemma Arterton (St. Trinians) star as well. It seems to have to have the makings of a great film already. It has a kick ass producer with a great vision and leadership and a superb director to add the action flavour into the film. Jake Gyllenhaal is a very capable actor as demonstrated by Brokeback Mountain, one of my favourite films. Arterton is a relative newcomer to the silver screen but although when I watched St. Trinians I didn't like it particularly, I did think she was a decent actor. Despite all the all-star qualities, the film is a video game movie. That automatically should mean it will flop. Video games for some reason suck when transposed to the big screen. So what do you think? Flop or not? Prince of Persia Movie Visual Edited by Setoshin, Aug 13 2009, 11:15 AM.

i have to agree, it'll be a flop. I will expect four things out of this movie, if it can deliver all four I may call it ok. 1)Not get drenched in plot that nobody wants, NOBODY! 2)More than just a few minutes of the Dark Prince, no minutes=instant flop 3)Lots of acrobatic stunts (run up a wall, do a backflip, slash the enemies throat, jump off the body, land on the next enemies shoulders, stab base of skull, jump onto window sill as an example) 4)Violent and bloody (or sandy if that be the case) I doubt that the movie will have any scenes with the dark prince therefore it will be a flop. Some of the best parts of the Two Thrones were playing as the Dark Prince. Or it will be so drowned out in plot that no amount of Dark Prince will save it. |

Well not all of the Prince Of Persia series has the Dark Prince. Plus it's being based off from the Sands of Time. My personal favourite. I mean, it has some kick ass team members on it, so maybe they'll make it amazing. Nice action scene btw. |

I thought it was based off that whole trilogy, not just the one game hence my Dark Prince expectations. That is removed from the flop list now. I'm hoping that they make the whole trilogy into movies just so I can watch the Dark Prince rip off ppls heads and limbs and all the strangling... so much strangling... anyways... A new flop potential: turns into a romance. The potential is there. I fear for the movie given the record Hollywood has for that sort of thing, at least in some of the movies I've seen... |

or, it will give the romance to a character that doesn't deserve it (see: Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Movie) or tries to make an explaination about how the person is able to do such amazing stunts by either A.) Showing a flashback to his youth as the start of the film in which he has an acrobatics instructor, or B.) It gives him a special pair of boots or something that make it easier to jump higher or some such nonsense (again, See: Jump Boots in Super Mario Bros Movie) And of course, the obvious reason this will flop will be because the director or the writers or the producer will have a vision of this being a video game movie and therefore allows it to either A.) Become far too serious or B.) Turn into a terrible, pun-injected comedy (See: All TMNT movies after the first one and before "TMNT") |

Dude. Jake G. really isn't cut out for the role. Honestly, that buffer version of him with a beard just looks... awkward. Really, that picture is wierd. It looks *ing photoshopped. He's just the skinny feminine dude that somehow attracts the attention of the ladies. Maybe his femininity allows him to relate better??? Anyhow, just knowing that he's the main character, I know it'll be a flop. Not Transformers flop where the story was shitty and as full of holes as swiss cheeze after a point blank shot from a shotgun but awesome action, but flop all around. Just because of him. Seriously, the guy reminds me of Tobey macquire. hell, I used to get the two of 'em mixed up. he just does not fit the role. >.> |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Do you realize what that means! It means the directors have a vision to turn the movie into a romance... |

Jake Gyllenhaal is a very capable and versatile actor. If anything is wrong with the film, it would not be him. I'm place the blame on the screenplay and the producers. I'm starting to think the film won't appease diehard PoP fans, but probably be a hit among non-videogamers or outside the PoPs fanbase. Kinda like how Transformers fans criticised the recent film but how non fans absolutely loved it. |

Walt Disney has a part in this? (pictures are copyrighted to Walt Disney) I'll watch it out of curiosity. I liked the PoP games and want to get the newest one for the PC. But I'm not a die hard fan so I won't be too offended if they screw up. |
