Short Article Here Sounds like Google is for real about releasing an Operating System. |

Russian roulette anyone? This will fail. There will be some dumb problem that it'll encounter. For example the people will start to demand more than this OS can give. Look at Vista, it was so overzealous it its security I started a .exe published by Micrososft and it wanted to know if I trusted and knew this source. |

The article I read right before the one I posted was something along the lines of Google falling flat on its face and the OS failing. I'm just curious as to how it will turn out. |

It does sound interesting but I can't help but have a feeling that the Google Operating System will not be a major fail, but rather it will fail to reach peoples expectations and just deliver minimal services. The idea of a minimal interface does seem somewhat appealing. If Google can stick to its offer of simplicity and substance then I think it'll be successful in providing a good service to its users. But the feeling that Google is perhaps overreaching itself should be apparent for all. I personally think that despite their belief that they can accurately compete with Windows, the reality would be just a small success that will only be picked up by a few enthusiastic E-geeks. |

E-geeks would come to the same conclusion I did. I could see this being successful with wannabe e-geeks (as in the kind of person who can't separate facebook, message boards, email, or an IM service but still spend most of their time surfing the youtube) or the kind of people who think that computers were made just so that they could use email would proclaim this a success. Following that line of thought the hardcore e-geeks (as in hackers and programmers) will create viruses or suchlike to destroy the OS from within, because with no security updates the OS will be defenseless. |
