Animist? Lets ignore the fact that animist doesn't even apply here and focus on the real reality here. You have no idea what Asatru is do you? Perhaps you could look beyond what you hear on the news and do some research. I know that christianity is more than priests molesting little children because I do research, I know about christianity. Also, lets ignore the fact that religions cannot have political agendas and are not located on any sort of left-right spectrum, but that it's the people who choose that and go right into your strange obsession with not knowing what you're talking about. When did this start? And I was brought up in it, my ancestors believe in the same thing I do now. I am Norwegian and French, deal with it bitch. It's not a revived Neo-pagan religion either, just because the word I use is the modern equivalent to it does not mean that I believe in the crap that they spew. So go pray to your invisible god that is all powerful and since he is all powerful he's making me believe in that. (sarcasm) Neo-Nazis and Neo-Pagans aren't even the same thing. Lol, I've known about Asatru for some time now. Possibly a few years. Of course I'm not professing to be well-versed in all the intricate details of your 'faith' but nevertheless I have knowledge of what it entails. I mean come on your faith does have animist values. I mean you venerate secondary dieties like Elves, goblins or whatever (A feature of animism) and believe in spirits of nature. So how is my claim flawed? And to be honest I think I've only heard of Asatru once in the news. And that's today. Summer Solstice has brought a lot of people to Stonehenge today. Oh and btw, I'm not Christian. I'm agnostic. And yes, some Priests might molest some kids. But what relevance does that have here? And I hate being a grammar Nazi or digress, but I thought this was too good to miss out:

Bronnen, be realistic. The majority of your recent ancestors were Christian. Asatru is a dead faith. And in fact it's probably much different from what the majority of pagans believed 1000 years ago. And you're Norwegian and French? And French? Oh my, that must excempt you from the entire argument due to your European ancestry. I'm sorry. My bad. Not. And asshole it IS a revived pagan movement. I mean I acknowledge that it's probably much different from original paganism about 1000 years ago, but that still doesn't give it any credence. Your religious movement only really kicked off majorly with the New Age movement of the 1970s. And because it follows on many of the pagan religious themes (I mean, your God does have a hammer) it therefore makes it a revival.

True. Very true. But your argument has no validity consider you previously equated molestation with Christianity. Now if I can't equate something negative, WHICH IS ASSOCIATED WITH NEO-PAGANISM, with your 'faith', why do you have the right to bash Christianity, because some, not all, dubious religious officials molest the Christian youth? Bottomline is that Christianity and molestation aren't the same. Just as how Neo-Nazism and Neo-Paganism aren't the same thing. But I mean the Neo-Pagan faith is often associated with Nazism. And IMO perhaps rightly so. So go pray to your invisible (or possibly visible depending on how much herbs you take) fairies and your Thor (who carries a hammer) that are all powerful and since he is all powerful he's making YOU believe in that shit. Pray that Thor decides to take some time out from giant hunting to tackle Setoshin. |

First of all, we don't venerate elves or goblins or spirits of nature, so you're completely off. Secondly, I was raised in the faith by my great grandmother who was raised by hers. And thirdly, I didn't say I judged Christianity by the priests who raped little kids, I said I didn't judge them by that. Fourthly, you have no idea what you're talking about so you should probably stop being proved wrong. Also, in Norway and Iceland people still believe in the same faith they have since the priests came and "converted them" they just didn't think it was worthwhile to kill them all so they lied to stop them from talking. That and your argument about Nazi's is the exact same with Terrorists. In the states, all terrorists are muslims, but not all muslims are terrorists Either way I know you're just doing this to try to get a rise out of me, but it's failing because you're an idiot. Unless your Grandmother's particular faith is different from mainstream Asatru...It's called bullshit. Actually I heard about your great grandmother. Are you trying to tell me that for some reason 1000 years of Christianity didn't touch your family?
WTF is wrong with you? Any good resource on New Age religions will tell you that Asatry deals with animism and nature veneration. Are you disputing pretty much every decent resource?
Lieeeesssss. No they didn't. Paganism was totally extinct in Europe. That's why it underwent a revival! People looked back on historical texts and decided fairy and sheep worship was for them! It wasn't passed down. I mean perhaps certain traditions, but no one still believed in them.
Right now you have to ask yourself a very important question. Is it really failing? Is it? Enjoy yourself sheep-fucker. |
