Most of the game is played on a grid-based based map, steering Godzilla around or through obstacles and dangers like tanks, missile launchers, mines, item power ups, energizers, and buildings. As in the movies, Godzilla is slow and thus moving around the map can take a while. While this may take up the majority of your time playing the game, the crux of it is the battles.
Once you complete your objectives/find the enemy monster, you enter a battle screen remniscient of old 2-D fighter games like MK and Street Fighter. The fighting is a little strange at first and takes a while to get used to. Your primary attack is a punch that does very little damage. But that's just the first part of it. Once you manage to punch your enemy, you pull back to your side of the screen to let the move/attack window at the bottom of the screen open to display a signature attack you can use (tail whip, tackle, fire breath, etc). The futher you can pull back the more moves are scrolled through the window and the more powerful the attack is likely to be. Another thing that affects the attack power is fighting spirit. Both Godzilla and the enemy monsters have a fighting spirit bar. By moving back and forth at the right times, you must raise your fighting spirit while suppressing theirs. If you let theirs raise too far up, your opponent will unleash a powerful signature move on you!

While a good portion of the game consists of wandering about the map (frustratingly), the main battles and the incredible music more than make up for it (Monster voice test and music test available in the options menu). The story itself isn't terribly great, consisting of aliens attempting to take over the planet with various monsters under their control while you yourself control Godzilla with a box planted in his brain, it really isn't overlong and boring. Defintely a must play for Godzilla fans. Looking up the game on youtube is a great idea if you want to see how the battles actually progress.

-Plot- 7/10
-Graphics- 9/10, great for such an old game
-Controls/Game play- 8/10, simple yet fun
-Sound- Sound quality and music are great! 10/10
-Pros & Cons- Fun fighting and great music, slow map movement and boring map events
-Personal Opinion- personally, I loved the game despite its grind and slow movement
-Final rating- 8/10

Vid1- Example of the awesome theme music for the last boss.
Vid2- Example of someone playing who knows what he's doing, even if he put his own music over the game music. Also, Super Godzilla is featured, and he is badass.

Atheists, agnostics, and theists aren't all that different:
Atheists think all religions are bullshit.
Theists think all religions except for their's are bullshit.
Agnostics can't decide which religion has the least bullshit.

Lol, I liked the fighting and the music the best. Yeah slow paced, but it made finally getting to the good parts that much more rewarding. =D

Great review. For an old game it looks pretty awesome, and the way battles played out I'd imagine it was unique for its time.
