"Sin, my scanners are picking up an energy signal. It appears to be similar to a programmed hologram. Most like another AI but it seems so primitive..." Cecilia's voice could be heard clearly over the roar of the engine as Sin braked and cornered hard to prevent being squashed by a falling chunk of debris. It seems that, even though they hadn't yet crossed the river, they were getting much closer to ground zero. A crease appeared in Sin's forehead as he looked at the screen that flickered to life on his small dashboard. It gave a rough distance and direction reading in regards to the energy signal. It was quite odd, as according to the information Sin was looking at, the whatever it was was within the blast radius. He didn't think that anyone or anything other than Cecilia and himself would be crazy or gutsy enough to go as far into the blast zone as he was, but obviously this thing was just that. Heck it was even further in than he was.

"Ok it looks like we'll be taking a detour on our way to ground zero. I want to check this out. If it's alive then it might know what happened, and that's assuming it's docile enough to tell us!" Sin shouted as he made another sharp turn and sped down a obstacle course of a road. He heaved upwards as the bike got airborne, easily jumping the three metre hole in the ground where the road had collapsed into the sewer system. It wouldn't take long for them to read the source of the energy signal at this rate.

OCC: I know short again but I'm kinda low on ideas right now due to a lot of personal things going on. Kag if you want you can char control Sin and Cecilia a bit in your next post as long as you play them right.

What were you doing by the watermelons?

Reli arrived at the guild, which seemed to be untouched by the energy, but the area still felt effects. People walked quickly in all directions, obviously confused. He had contacted a medical team that was going into the blast area to look for victims. Reli told them to look to Nubi for instruction, as she was most likely to have the right information by the time they got there.

He quickly ascended the stairs and pulled up a large chair to his computer. The brown cat, Floyd, floated above his head, making the occasional purr.

Well Floyd, I don't think that I'm much help in the rescue. The least I can do is try and find out whatever made that blast...

The cat purred again before falling to the floor. Reli picked it up, not noticing that there was something behind him before it spoke:

Turn off the machine and follow me. Neither one of us would benefit if you were deleted, so come quietly.

Reli got up, pressing the button as he did so. Hopefully someone would get the signal and know he was in trouble. But he knew that no one could reach him in time.

It was still taking too long. Another destructive burst was soon to come, and the being could almost feel it. The closer it got, the higher the bit rates went up. It may have been a primitive bieng, but it did understand the basics. It may have been built in bytes but it understood bitrates. An interesting way to destroy things. Just make everything inaccessible. It wasn't itself destroying it, but making it destroyable by something more advanced than itself. By the time these things realized it, it would be far too late. Surely there was something out here it could evolve from...

Commencing Long Range Data-Structure Analysis...
...

Almost instantaneously to those around the being, a blue light shot straight up, then went out in a circular shape, scanning everything it could possibly reach in an attempt to find a commonality.

...
...
...
...
...
...
Data-Structure Similarity Located
Class: Unknown AI
Commencing Data-Structure Localized Scan...

After the scan reached another line going straight down, the being computed the location it found the AI. Once it figured it out, the same blue scan that it had used earlier, shot out again only this time almost entirely towards the AI it located.

Seconds later it had found what it had needed.

Data-structure Re-organization Commencing....
...

Slowly at first, it re-arranged the coding that made it up, rewriting each bit of it's being into something compatible with this world. As more time passed, it turned almost into a blinding light. Then second later it was done. In place of the energy being was a person, a guy about six foot tall wearing blue jeans, a gray polo under a heavy black winter coat, tennis shoes, and a pair of sleek black shades.

Moments later a blue ring of light appeared around it's waste, it did some motions with it's hands and then the ring disappeared. A few seconds later and the figured looked away from the anomaly out towards the edge of the blast zone as an energy field shot up from it in a spherical shape, coming to met in a point far above the anomaly.

Blast suppression field complete
Expected blast output: 15%...
...
Locals approaching...

The guy turned towards the racing bike of an engine coming towards him. The field the being had put up would keep any blast inside the zone while allowing the locals to enter and leave. If they couldn't survive the heavily suppressed blast then they shouldn't be there. Of course, the more blasts that were sent out, the less it'd be able to suppress of them.

My Blog: Thoughts of Randomness

So, like usual, I try to change this every so often.
I don't know if anyone notices, but I do it anyways.
I hate studying.
Have I mentioned this?
Anyways, I do.
It bites.
In other news,
It all began with Brownies.
And then sped up a little bit.
Not quite to phone numbers yet though,
But that might change.
I hope it does.

We will destroy the Cybermen with 1 Dahlek. You are superior in only one respect.
What is that?

The man wasn't... anything like Reli had ever seen. His skin moved just as his did, but it seemed almost metallic and had a rust red shade to it. His hair was a bright red, shoulder length, pulled down around his face. He was wearing a red trench coat with maroon leather sewed on to form a weird looking armor. The weapon he was holding looked like a small handgun, but attached was a device that Reli had seen... somewhere... before. He did know however that if he was hit, he wouldn't be able to hold his own for too long.

So what are you here for? Equipment? A ransom?

I'm not one to fabricate, but it's not time for you know yet... You'll have to accompany me, and when your to know, you'll know.

It was apparent that Reli was going to get no more information, so he nodded. The man stepped behind him and held Reli's wrists in ne hand, pressing the barrel to Reli's back. With the gun prodding him in the right direction, Reli made his way to a storage closet in one of the back hallways. Insid there was the blue door of a hyperlink. Reli could see codes flying through, noticing that it never flickered and loaded very quickly. It must have made it past the barriers the Nubi had erected to protect them. Another prod from the barrel pushed Reli forward, and he and his captor passed through the door and dissolved into code. the door was edited out and disappeared.

A bright flash of light blinded Chrono. It, in fact, startled him so much that he spun out and crashed his Dogpile. Stepping out, he looked through the bright light, his eyesight gradually adjusting to the bright light.

The hell...?

The light had a bluish tinge to it, making it strangely eerie. As quickly as it had come, it was gone, leaving Chrono in a bit of a daze.

Chrono took a look back to his vehicle, messed with the data debris and the bumper busted.

Wonderful... just plain wonderful...

It looked operable, but totally ugly... And the custom paint job was totally wrecked... The orange paint was almost completely peeled off of the black base coat in the front, while leaving the back half in perfect shape.

Hey Jim, saddle up.

Jim looked at him with a savage glance, making Chrono immmediately imitate. It seemed that Jim didnt like the idea of being rode like a common animal... But, what Jim wanted didn't matter, Chrono never did like to be left behind.

-------------------------------------------
Several long, awkward minutes later...
-------------------------------------------

Several long, awkward minutes later, Chrono had Jim all ready to go. It was always such a difficult task to override programming on custom jobs like Jim... but if you know the combination, you can open any safe. Luckily, Chrono knew Jim's combo.

So, riding Jim, Chono finally came to the warehouse, where, minutes ago, another more concentrated beam emerged from. What was going on in there?

That was when Chrono got the signal. Something was up at headquarters...

OOC: Chrono, do you realize that your post could be taken as a sexual reference? :OOC

Their code was linked into a dark room, as storage by the look of it. Before, Reli could gain his footing after being shot out of the hyperlink, He was grabbed by the wrists in the same manor as before. The alcove held all sorts of crates, that seemed to groan under the others on top of them.

The hallway was dimly lit and empty, and the next wasn't much better. Their weren't any windows, nor any doors, yet they had walked the distance of three city blocks. Finally, Reli's captor flicked a switch in the wall and a bright lamp flickered on. He was pushed against a wall. Blinded from the sudden light and shaken from the sudden impact, Reli was helpless as his captor pushed a key into the lock of the first door Reli had seen in this place... wherever it was.

He was then roughly pulled to his feet and shoved into the room, the door pulled shut behind him.

OOC: I'm just going to post to try and get a plot going... It may take me a while to think of a good twist, so I'll beat around the bush, and maybe get some inspiration some everyone else's posts. HINTHINT:OOC

-------
Chrono rode as fast as he could, making it to headquarters in record time. The front door was key-card activated, but Chrono sort of forgot his passkey... Rather than spend five minutes getting out his pda and trying to hack the code, Chrono just activated Jim's original programming.

In not very long, Jim had the door bitten and chewed away into dataspace. He was, however, back under Chrono's control.

He ran upstairs to Reli's room, since it was his computer that sent out the message. There was nothing there, no signs of a struggle, and no sort of damage whatsoever. However, his computer screen had a little red symbol on the taskbar that confirms a distress call was sent out.

Whatever caused Reli to use it, happened in this room. He searched around, but found nothing. It wasn't long however before Jim started barking.

What does that damn virus want?

He found Jim in one of the dead end hallways of that floor. He was sitting (or as close to sitting as a worm can) on the floor in front of a closet. Chrono opened it, and found something strange. It looked like part of the barrier Nubi made was destroyed.

"Hey, that's a man isn't it?"
"Sin, that man is the source of the energy signal. He must be the AI!"
"If you say so Cecilia. I just hope he wasn't the one that caused the explosion, otherwise we might just wind up in a sticky situation."

The bikes roar began to lesser as Sin slowed it down to a roll. He was on a highway bridge that overlooked an old warehouse. The AI that Sin had been tracking was standing before the warehouse, just standing there. Sin had no idea what the AI was thinking, or if it was even thinking. With a sigh Sin revved the bikes engine again and made a U-turn. It didn't take long for him to get down to the warehouse, where the man was still standing.

"Hey, you. What are you doing here? This is a blast zone, how did you get in here? Are you the one who did this?" Sin yelled at the man as soon as he had brought his bike to a stop. He hadn't even noticed that the small area surrounding the warehouse, and the building itself, hadn't seemed to have been damaged by the blast. It was only when Cecilia tapped him on the shoulder and pointed it out with her finger and a whisper did he notice. Looking around he only grew more suspicious of the lone figure that stood nearby.

"I'm telling ya buddy. Things are starting to add up and it doesn't look like it's in your favour!"

"I'm telling ya buddy. Things are starting to add up and it doesn't look like it's in your favour!" The no-longer not-so-primitive AI processed this for a moment, drawing up translation protocols from what had been said. Atleast language hadn't changed much.

This is not my work. To explain it to you would be difficult, you've lost sight of the base code. I don't have time to bring you up to date. The being explained, tentatively taking a few steps towards the center of the blast zone. If it understood pity, it would be pitying how far society had fallen. Things got more advanced, but people got less advanced.

The being held a hand out, palm upturned.

Beginning Network Security Analysis...

A blue orb came to life above his hand, a blue wall of light did a quick circle in it's range, and then both disappeared.

Security Protocols Detected...
Security Inactive...
Beginning Temporairy Security Activation...

Protocol AVS-0004: Activate. Protocol AVS-0007: Activate. The being said, drawing on long unused parts of the network, acivating some ancient anti-virus system to supply him with the weapons to fight.

Temporairy activation successful...
Closing link.

Moments later a couple pistols and a sword materialized in front of him. He grabbed the pistols a moment later, muttered something, and the pistols vanished into smaller variants of the same blue light that had appeared when he was modifying himself. Seconds later it vanished, the pistols modified to include laser sights and more ammo, and a much cooler design; he holstered them inside his coat. The sword wasn't so flashy, he just grabbed it and started walking towards the center of the blast zone.
