hahaha sorry. I've been busy with school, work, house chores, etc. I've only just started reading again. Please read my other stories in the meantime while I get more written for this. |

The military officer groaned. Obviously there was something he wanted to know that the doctor was avoiding. Jake growled inwardly, he wished the both of them would just hurry up and explain everything! He edged closer to the bed, making sure not to alert the men. He creased his brow as he listened to the doctor point out the obvious that Jake himself had noted already. He snickered quietly to himself though when he heard the officer groan again. That groan sounded quite familiar, though the voice that it belonged to didn’t. Jake raked his brain for where he had heard that groan from before. Then it hit him, it was Officer McDougal, sure he sounded different but that was him alright. The fact that his groan was unusually deep gave it away. This was how Jake had identified, even located, McDougal before in the past. There was no mistaking it, Jake had worked with the man many times in the past, despite the fact they generally didn’t get along with each other. A grin came to Jake’s face as an idea formed in his brain. He knew McDougal would crack under the pressure Jake could put on him, and when he did all the answers to all of Jake’s questions will hopefully come tumbling out. His thoughts were interrupted by another, louder groan. It was obvious McDougal was loosing his patience. It was obvious that the doctor was running out of things to say to stall telling McDougal what he wanted to know. Jake guessed that McDougal still knew more than what they had been discussing and he was most likely after some follow up information. Jake strained his ears and leaned in further to hear better when a soldier rushed into the room. He was breathing heavily and beads of sweat dotted his face, which was bright red. Jake swore under his breath as he quickly retreated further behind the racks so he wouldn’t be spotted. “Doctor, please, come quickly. We have several severely injured men. They just tumbled in covered in blood! They need medical aid immediately!” the soldier panted heavily. He was bent over double and his face was so read it looked like it might burst into flames any second now! The doctor and McDougal rushed out from behind the curtain. The doctor stared wide-eyed at the soldier; this was obviously a big emergence. The doctor turned to McDougal, as if awaiting permission to leave or something. “Please go on. I’ll just examine the girl once more quickly then leave. There is no need to worry about what happens here. Those soldiers need your help,” McDougal spoke without formality but there was still a hint of seriousness behind his voice. The doctor nodded and left the room calmly with the soldier. As soon as they left Jake could hear their footsteps pounding away as they ran down the halls. Jake grinned to himself, now would be the perfect time to question McDougal. “Come on out Jake. You may be able to void being detected by most people but you can’t avoid me.” “Still as sharp as ever I see McDougal. It’s good to see you again.” “Yes, it’s good to see you again too Jake. Too bad it couldn’t have been under better, more suitable circumstances. No doubt you have a few questions to ask then? Sorry you had to wait; I tried to make the good doctor explain instead of me telling you directly. But I guess it can not be helped now.” “Yes. I figured as much. You usually know important information before the doctors find out. I still find that amusing.” “Ah yes. Well let’s get down to business then shall we? I have to attend a meeting within the hour. What do you want to know first?” “Well first you can tell me what the hell she is and where she came from!” “Very well then…” ____________________________________ ok well there is the last of that scene guys. I'll put up more after I write some more for the next scene. |
