Yes, I admit, I haven't done Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh in a long time either, but it still sounds more attractive than the type of RP's going around here. And you'd be surprised on how non-childish Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh can go... As for furries, the two I was in were different from the standard furry RP, I was told. There was no cyber-sex involved, so it was more of a "Twilight Werewolf & Friends" type of thing, with other races. The thing is (and you can't deny this), you've all been RPing about the same thing for the longest time. Sure, the storylines are different, and so are the powers, etc, but it's still like "Hey, let's play a 300 RP, oh it died, hey I know let's do a Gladiator one now, oh it died too, hey I know let's be outlaws in ancient rome" etc. It's all still the same genre, and sure, it attracts most people, but after so many RPs inside the same genre, don't you start getting tired of it? Don't you feel like actually changing the genre a little bit? Take for example the RP that Aurelias had going on, that Rin took over. I mean, I hated the whole spaceship stuff, but still tried to add to the story because the X-Men type of powers interested me, to an extent. I'm down with a Vampire type of thing, if anyone decides to start one. |

I've actually done a bunch of different RP's PW. Fantasy, Medieval, Modern, Post-apocalyptic, sci-fi. Some with magic, some not. Some with abilities, some not. Some with vampires, some with werewolves, some with aliens. I've been RP'ing on forums for nearly 7 years now. And that statement makes me feel a little old as I miss the good old days. Anyways, Dark Portal was probably my favorite RP of all time, though I don't think anyone here should remember it except maybe Nubi. I don't think it's creator RP's anymore though. |

My favorite RP's have to be some dragon rider RP and Dragon Chronicles one that was carried over to here after cheatplanet was killed. The majority I took part in were fantasy ones at least in the period I even bothered. I wasn't all that interested in much else nor was there really all that much to choose from anyways. Yes magic and dragons are overused but they work if implemented right. An RP just about vampires seems dull. Twilight ruined everything related to vampires. I'm thinking of making an RP about an alien invasion. The catch is, its in a fantasy world complete with magic and several races. I've come up with explanations for everything mentioned above, all pseudo-sciency and whatnot. I could add vampires, used in this kind of setting they are still acceptable in my view. I'm just not sure how to implement factions or how the story would progress or anything like that. Or what the aliens look like... DAMN JHU SPORE WHY MUST JHU MAKE UR PICTURES SO DAMN SMALL!!! How long ago did I start anyways... 5 years ago or so I think. I started when I was 11... that seems kinda strange. Edited by Schneeraubtier, Jan 18 2010, 05:46 AM.

Once I mesh it out a bit, and post it of course, you will find out the vampires I have planned are something like that bully in elementary school who's bigger than everyone else and steals your lunch money every day, takes a "special interest" (read: pulverising session) with the girly boys (read: Twilight vampires) about once a week or whenever it amuses him, and then when high school rolls around he becomes the most popular guy in school, who is on good terms with everyone but still has every weakling in the school at his service--he doesn't need them for homework or science projects though, no he's got that covered. Simply put, they are effectively very powerful, very clearly so, and not afraid to push their weight around. Oh, and my favorite part, all the characters in the RP will be those vampires, with the exception of my character who will be a regular mortal human. Not that these vampires are immortal, they aren't. They die, it just takes a lil more work. On the flip side, the Tesan (those angel-esque beings I mentioned), are as bad-ass if not more so. On another note, it will be a darker RP--no one is really the "good guy". It'll also have an emphasis on stealth. As for anything else, well, I'm still fleshing it out. |

You can't say that. That's like saying whorecore ruined everything good about dance music.. It's not true. What happened is that Twilight created an entire new world based on something that was cool, and managed to make that world an awful place. Using the music example again: Some artists like Madonna or Lady Gaga are actually accepted as good musicians because they care about what they do and they can sing. Ke$ha is a whore on drugs who just got *ed by a fat, sweaty man, and she can't sing. Ke$ha (whorecore, aka horrible) tries as hard as she can to copy Gaga (dancepop, aka good to whoever is into the genre). Actually, ignore this post. I'm just pissed because people are starting to call Ke$ha a diva. Can you believe it? A *ing one-hit wonder, she can't even sing, and people are putting her up to the likes of Mariah Carey and Whitney Hustoun? *ing retarded people.. |

My favorite vampire related books published before the fangirl hordes arose are the The Haunted Lands trilogy by Richard Lee Byers. Some of my favorite books too. |

The haunted lands books are not bad and Twilight did not ruin them. They are books about undead taking over a country. They win btw. One of the characters is an experimental vampire created by an unborn demigod fetus (f-ed up I know). So maybe I will make an RP about it. We will be on the side of the antagonist and we will be a bunch of undead going on a killing spree. Sound fun to you? That actually does sound epic... maybe tonight I will have it ready. I dunno. |

Maybe half of us could be humans, and the other half could be undead.. And we'd actually RP in two different topics, unless we decided to meet up, in which case we'd actually RP in the same topic. Or maybe create 2/3 topics with different cities/places where we could meet, and we'd RP throughout those topics. |

This seems like it could become some kinda huge RP. I like the dual topic idea. Fight on both sides of the same war. The two meeting would be kinda weird so that should be avoided. There would still be humans on the undead side, necromancers. Maybe some at least semi-sentient undead on the human side. In the book there are at least 3 characters like that. This could take a while... |

All I'm going to say is, that I agree with whoever said that all the RPs are the same... As the member with the most RP experience (or, so I surmise), I can fully understand that despite time periods, powers (or lack thereof), and setting, we've been playing the same game over and over again. We're a bunch of people who don't get along very well, and then we go fight something that no one, not even ourselves, understand. It happened with the Heroes of the Net, it happened with Grendal (my RP), and it happened with whattayacallit (the last RP, with the psychics and the vamps and the crazy science and all that shit), only, the funny thing is, everyone loses interest in the plot after 20-30 posts because the person who is supposed to be in charge of the RP is getting too wrapped up in letting people discover their own sub-plots and personal development, completely ignoring the basic rules of life (that, no matter what happens, life goes on). Just because Drake's in a coma, doesn't mean that everyone has to go to the hospital to visit him for 10 posts. Just because we're in the middle of a fight, doesn't mean that we can't stop until everyone's dead, just because we want someone else to join, we can't just completely change the plot to include them, and thereby destroy the entire premise of the RP and leaving us with no storyline. It's just ridiculous. Also, Naruto's turning into a shitfest (simply posted here because I am far too lazy to post int he naruto topic as well) ---------- Yeah, also, nice to be back! ::cheer:: and what the hell? Didn't I have a smily that was just for me back in the day? What happened to that? |

I'd just like to say that Naruto was always a shit fest. I stopped watching it when they went off on a random tangent of Naruto getting stronger by dancing with frogs. I mean I have watched some really stupid things but......I can only tolerate so much crap. Glad someone else is finally siding against the Narutards As for all RP's being the same, I really don't know how you would begin to make them all different. No matter how well an RP is planned and organized, there are always going to be the people that have no imagination whatsoever. And so they all follow whatever is popular at that moment in time, which results in an RP getting rather boring, rather quickly. So basically, having a good RP requires both a good topic and some imaginative writers; and humanity isn't very imaginative anymore.... |
