Heroes of the Net wasn't always Heroes of the Net. In fact... it used to be called RPG Zone and hosted on my father's domain on a BB-Whatever-It-Was-Called forum. It was called "RPG Zone" as a blatant copy of another forum I frequented called "RPG Cove". Original, I know. Come on, I was like 11. But let's go back. Even farther. Or is it further? Even faurther. To a place called CheatPlanet. Which is now GamesRadar, which sucks balls. Ah. The forums of CheatPlanet is where it all REALLY began. Where I learned to roleplay and found out how fun and totally cool it was to spend all your social time on an internet forum. This was my inspiration. Through some tragedy, the forum was wiped out due to how it was hosted and we had to start from scratch. I decided to recreate RPG Zone through a new host, InvisionFree! Why I can remember it was called InvisionFree is beyond me. It thrived as much as a small forum community could. But everything was about to change... WHEN THE FIRE NATION ATTACKED -- whoops wrong story. When InvisionFree offered an upgrade to ZetaBoards. It was optional, but because I like shiny new things I was compelled to upgrade to ZetaBoards with all their fancy new features ... n ... stuff. The year was 2006. How old was I in 2006? I graduated high school in 2011 at age 18. Subtract 5... God I hate math. I was born in 1992. 2006 - 1992... I was 14. My creativity was skyrocketing in these teenage years. No longer could we be "RPG Zone", an unoriginal and knock off community. We were going to be reborn as HEROES. OF. THE. NET. I thought it was cool. And now to think, that nearly ten years later Heroes of the Net is still here. A graveyard, nay, an immortal collection of good times and awkward teenage years archived conveniently to forever remind and embarrass users like me of how weird I |

If I may: Chrono T was not always my name. FadingDream was there, at CheatPlanet, RPing as Nubi was, although our paths did not meet. Rather than hosting my own board, as she did, I followed another member, who I often saw around the board. The trouble-maker, XCVB, had made a board called Mr.HeavyMetalSoulOnly, seemingly for just himself and MrHMS, himself. Still, with word coming from the mods that all our RP and cheat-codes and fan-theories would washed away by GamesRadar, several of us made the transition to XCVB's board, myself, now FadingNight, included. After a while, the board started to stagnate for a number of reasons, including a bunch of angry people who didn't like the admin (he was a trouble-maker after all) and so the new board was erected: Gamer's Underground, a competitor, of sorts, to another Refugee Board: Revolution X. After a while, both boards went down, deciding to reform their members into one board, Gamer's Revolution X. It was a fun time, but by then, I had gotten a message from someone here... I was not here from the beginning of HotN, but I came regardless for good times and good friends, which held strong long after GRX went down and XCVB went crazy and deleted everything. Recently, I tried to find this place, but was unable. Since when did the letter change to a "w" anyways??? heheh. Edited by Chrono T., Jan 9 2016, 06:22 AM.

I've been on many forums under many names in my time. I must say, Heroes of the Net is officially the longest standing of these forums as GameTrailers has now gone under and every other forum is dead and buried. At times I miss when there used to be plenty of activity, especially in the Roleplay boards. I recall awkwardly gunning to create romances between my characters and other members characters at times like a fool. I also remember how bad a lot of my characters were and how lacking many of my "character sheets" had been. I wish my memory was better. It'd be nice to more accurately recall all my old forums and who was on them, and who from them ended up here. I know I've known Nubi and (now that Chrono has reminded me of his old CheatPlanet username) Chrono since Cheat Planet days, granted I mostly just recognise the usernames from then and had little to do with many people outside of a handful of users that never really progressed past the forum they made to replace Cheat Planet which died about a year later. I do recall some of my screen names over the years though: Black Rose Omega Inferno The Dragoon DeathsShadow (from Game Trailers, not RPG Zone) Eternal Conflict (a rename on GT) Soul of Sorrow (my original name here) Soul of Sin (current name here) BladeMasterX (a name I adopted on forums for local cons) Epsilon (a name I made around 2008 that has carried me on almost every platform since) Midnight Lights (Current username on my countries Brony Forums, renamed from Epsilon) |

Ah, CheatPlanet, those were days man. Such days. 13 year old me signing up as "Kagurati" in 2004, forgetting I had an account, and stumbling into the RP boards several months later, ending up as a moderator a few years later, mostly because the alternative was Dream_Shadow (why do I remember this?!) and Balius, the retiring mod, didn't think she presented as friendly an environment to new roleplayers. As to why it was called InvisionFree is because it was a licensed variant of the Invision Power Board bulletin board software, which was the same stuff that CheatPlanet ran, if I recall correctly. For the longest time I stayed in contact with a few of the old CP RP board peoples, but it's dwindled over the years to basically just Nubi and Heavyman. Used to be in touch with Cymry and Greystone84 as well, but it's been years since I've talked to either. 2008 for one, and like 2011 for the other I think. Maybe 2012? I've no problem investing a bit of time or money into making this something cool and amazing again, but it's Nubi's board and her decision if she wants to keep this up, pass the torch, or leave it. |

I'm still waiting on Nubi to get back to me on whether or not we're going to keep with Zetaboards or swap to a new forum software (I can host basically any) before I start telling people about this place again. |

Bloody hell, I haven't heard the name CP since I was regaling my girlfriend with the stories of my childhood. T'was truly the beginning. Hahaha, man, Nubi. Maybe you recall, maybe you don't. But back in the day, we used to have the RP board at CP poppin' something fierce, no? I'm 24 and I STILL remember most of the first RP of yours I posted in "Shadowed Lands" or something like that or "City of Shadows", you remember? The one with the animal DNA modification and what have you? Oh, and though it didn't get very far, remember the "Flamer war" RP on CP? Christ, it's been a long time since we were children at CP spending whole days playing make-believe with eachother. |

Ashura! How did you know to come back? HotN senses tingling? I remember the CP days. A couple RPs more specifically than others. Was your screen name on CP also Ashura? From CP I think the RP that stands out the most in my mind was one I was so attached to and then a hurricane hit where I lived and the power was out for a couple weeks and I got so behind in the RP. I think Cymry and Kagurati/Zanaras were in it and a few others. And yeah, something like City of Shadows. I remember that one. I thought it was such a super cool idea. I guess it kinda was. Can't remember if that was here or at the old RPG Zone board. Flamer Wars? I don't know if I remember that one. Did I miss out on something great? |

Setoshin and Mark the Pilgrim have pretty much been my only handles. Boy the memories I've had with them. On that note, so how different was your online Persona to your real life personality, if at all? My online behaviour was more like my own character on roids. I definitely wasn't nearly as confrontational as online Setoshin was. I know friends who have known me for 10+ years and never even seen me pissed. I'm a very chilled guy. And I've been blessed to have been on mostly good terms with people I have to socialise with. Dont get me wrong I'd definitely say some of the things 'Setoshin' would say Irl, but I'd get the point across sarcastically or through a witty retort. That's where I'd say the Setoshin part comes out irl. Believe it or not I rarely feud with people, haha. Edited by Setoshin, Mar 11 2016, 02:14 AM.

Something you said to Scheerabtier/Snow Raptor years ago came up in my searches yesterday. You made him leave the forum. I almost sent my sides up to heaven laughing because you were so indignant with his dweeb behaviour. |

I'd say this goes for me as well, to a large extent. Though I might be a bit more of a loudmouth IRL, especially when I went through puberty haha But come to think of it, when I met you, you were pretty much how I expected you to be. Then again, that's probably because we'd had plenty of contact outside of the forum too over the years. EDIT: I'm going through some old, old posts and the cringe is real.
